Hello Friends, Want a New PSP and NEED any help possible!

Hello Friends, I am from Melbourne (Aus) and want to buy a new PSP and was wondering which firmware to go for. I want safe to crack firmware but still want to do a lot with it.

1. Looked around and looks like the older version 1.5 is really easy to hack(?) to use homebrew etc.
But what about all the new games etc which don't play until you upgrade to the newer versions? Is there a work around that?

Also 1.5 is hard to find and if you can its more expensive ( A few new ones on ebay etc - extra $30-$40 above)

2. Also what about all the post version 2.0 goodies like browser etc. Can you still use these utilities even if you dont upgrade?

3. What version is really good for emulators etc? I am sure you can rip your existing PS1 games to play on PSP but what about PS2 titles? Is it possible? Is region code a problem?

4.Is it possible to download PSP titles using Bittorrent etc and how can you scan the viruses(or is it virii)?

5 Is it hard finding titles using such methods? (Most downloads not working, too many viruses etc). Please PM me some websites I can visit to get more info regd this.

I will be really thankful to anyone who can help me with this. I tried my best to look around and if any of these issues have been already addressed please forgive me and just give me the URL's to such. I hope I have been clear enough with my queries! If there are things that cannot be put onto forums please feel free to email me on secretrmitATyahoodotcom. I hope this doesnt get picked by web spiders

(I am 25 and feel like a 7 yr old waiting on christmas eve. :-) Better run now - Boss is coming!!! Cheers guys

You should be safe getting any version psp that is out now. There was a recent hack that made it possible to downgrade all psp versions ;) (except for the new 3.10 update). To downgrade from 3.03 you need an older version of the Grand Theft Auto Liberty City Stories game (one that is unpatched).

1. You don't need a 1.50 or need to look for one anymore. You can get 1.00 - 3.03 and still use hacks or downgrade and use them. I'd look for a nice version 2.71 - 3.03 version psp for sale personally ;)

2. You can get custom firmware that can have all of the hacking abilities of version 1.50 and STILL HAVE all of the "goodies" like the browser. It is quite an extraordinary concept and I LOVE playing my hacks on here.

3. The psp can emulate TONS of video game systems. Check the link at the bottom of this post to see what ones ;) Version 1.50 is good for running these, but the custom firmwares run them just as well as version 1.50. The higher custom firmwares can use Sony's built in Playstation one emulator to play PS1 games too!!

4. You can download psp games using torrents, yes, but you are not allowed to ask for links to them on this forum b/c it is against the law. You can get them pretty easily though.

5. Again, I can't tell you the specific addresses to those torrent sites but as long as you search around, you will be able to find them. I have never downloaded a virus + game before. Just make sure the file size is large and you know what you are doing and you should be fine. I'd say that 99% of the psp torrents right now are perfectly fine.

Hope that answers your questions! ;)

Thanks

Thanks for your real quick replies.

Are TA-082 ones hackable? When I go in buy a PSP how can I make sure that mine isn't one of these? I doubt it but is there something on the box by which you can tell?

I just want to make the whole process to be as painless as possible hence the questions. So if there is a version which should be preferred?

thanks once again, You guys been great help!

Is it possible to use an older GTA iso? I've never looked into that possibility b/c I own the disc but I was just wondering.

Got a PSP!

Hello Guys,

Got my PSP (YEY!!!) and looks like it is a TA-082 one. The F version is 2.71.

1 Got any links for me to downgrade it? There's a couple i have seen- Just want to get the latest one with the least hassle possible.

2. These emulators etc- Can these be used without hacking the PSP? I was just wondering any applications/extra games etc that I can use without downgrading.

3.With downgrading, is it possible to have some kind of back up? So if things dont go smoothly there's something to fall back on?

Thanks for any responses in advance.

Regards
