What is it?
-----------

This is a port of D1X-Rebirth to the PSP. D1X-Rebirth is a modified version of D1X, a port of Parallax Software's Descent to Windows and Linux.

Features
--------

All original features should be available on the PSP, including sound, music and ad-hoc and infrastructure network play.

Installation
------------

This port was tested only on firmware version 1.5. A version for firmware 1.0 is also supplied in the archive but was not tested. Do not forget to check out the Controls section below.

Installation instructions:

1. Firmware v1.0 users: Copy the DESCENT folder from the 1.0 folder to the PSP/GAME folder on your PSP.
Firmware v1.5 users: Copy the DESCENT and DESCENT% folders from the 1.5 folder to the PSP/GAME folder on your PSP.

2. Make sure you have updated your data files to version 1.4a. You can get some patches at the DXX-Rebirth site: http://www.dxx-rebirth.de

3. Copy the updated "descent.hog" and "descent.pig" (and "descent.dem") to the PSP/GAME/DESCENT folder on your PSP.

4. If you want music, you need a timidity patchkit and its appropriate timidity.cfg file. I use Goemon's patchkit from http://www.anime.net/~goemon/timidity/. Unpack the archive into PSP/GAME/DESCENT and rename goemon.cfg to timidity.cfg

That's about it.

Controls
--------

The analog controller is used as a joystick. You can set its sensitivity and deadzone in the options menu. The buttons on the PSP generate keyboard events.
Here is what they do in different situations:

  > Text input

        Cross : confirm
        Circle : cancel
Square : pop up the on-screen keyboard

  > Menus

        Cross : confirm
        Circle : back
        Square : toggle checkboxes
        Triangle : screenshot

  > Customize controls

        Circle : back
        Cross : change
        Square : delete
        Start : cancel input

  > Game

        Start : save game
        Select : quit
        Hold : pause
