Description:
Yes, it is both a great and a sad day for homebrew. As the amazing coder Ahman himself has gracefully said "As in nature, everything has a begin & an end, iR Shell is no exception." Ahman has been working on this shell since January this year, starting off as a homebrew application called iR Commander. iR Commander was not a shell but a homebrew application that could use the PSPs infrared port to control infrared devices, such as your TV or in Ahamans case, his Pentax camera. Ahman carried on developing his homebrew application and iR Commander evolved into the multi-functional shell called iR Shell, allowing you to run UMD games, listen to music and switch back to iR Shell at any time.
A kind of 'easter egg' which Ahman has included since iR Shell v2.0 is the ability to play a 2.xx UMD game whilst iR Shell is still present in the background, allowing you to play your UMD games and listen to MP3s. This support has been introduced since 2.0 official release, but Ahman didn't mention it in the official release notes due to many of other iR Shell functions haven't been fully working under devhook environment. iR Shell isn't the most stable application in the world when working with DevHook but ince this is a final release our friendly-coder Ahman has attached a copy of instructions in the download . Look up "devhook.txt" in order to get this feature to work.
Ahman would like to thank everyone who has made plugins for iR Shellm, the beta testers, the coders and the homebrew community for supporting iR Shell. Special thanks goes to Torpie13 for his generous donation for the iR Shell website domain and free hosting service. Even more thanks go to all those talented graphics artists, including Triable, Skydew, Terdinglage, Numeror, PSPHax0r9 and other skin makers for giving iR Shell a face lift from the original interface.
I'm sorry to babble on, but today we see the loss of a great homebrew coder as well as the final release of arguably the best homebrew application ever to be released, on par with Booster's DevHook. Here's the v2.2 final changelog:
New Features:
* The Homebrew directory can be customized under iR Configurator. You can change it from original /PSP/GAME to anything you like. Pls note if you relocate the homebrew directory, XMB won't be able to launch them.
* You can now organize your homebrews into various sub-folders, such as:
o Emulators
o Games
o General Utilities
o WiFi Applications
This will help to organize your homebrews and make it easier to locate a specific one easier. It also helps to speed up the APP view. The sub-folder must be in the syntax of "$name$". The 2 dollar signs are used to signify this is a folder which contains various homebrews.
* The File Manipulation has been updated for the APP view, so that you can create, rename, delete directories as usual. Pls note when you create directory under APP view, you don't need to put dollar signs and the system will add them automatically.
* A new PMP Mod AVC plugin by Magelo. In order to avoid conflicts with the original PMP Mod 2.02. This new AVC plugin will use extension name "AVC" which means you'll have to rename your pmp avc files to name.avc. The original PMP movie files will still be name.pmp.
* A new beautiful skin "Vista Clarity" by PSPHax0r9.
Bug Fixes:
* Fix a bug which cause the inability to launch a 1.5 UMD game from iR Shell.
* There was a bug in the previous public release which caused "hide splash screen" under iR Configurator not working. It's now fixed.
* A log file "debug.txt" in the root directory has been accidentally left in the previous public release. You can manually remove it.
Ahman, your contribution to the PSP homebrew scene has been monumental. We here at QJ.net would like to thank you for your contributions and congratulate you on your final release of iR Shell. Good luck in all of your future endeavours.
